January 2012 Recipe

Confession, it was so weird typing 2012. I really had to think about it.

Anyways, back to my post. The other night I was freaking out that I hadn’t tried a new recipe, so I started looking on Pinterest for a healthy recipe, only to find lots of sweets and to remember that I already made a sweet; last weekend for Layla’s birthday.  Cake Batter Rice Krispie Treats. I wish I would have taken a picture they were cute and super easy to make. I will post a picture and recipe in about a week, when I make them again.

We have a wonderful weekend with my friend Leah & her family. We had a picnic in Forsythe Park, walked on River Street, went to River Street Sweets (Birthday Girl’s Request) and had a steak dinner. Here are a few pictures from the park.

I am also looking for a new Photoshop that is Mac compatible if any one knows of an affordable, easy to use one.

Next week I have some cute Valentine ideas to share with you! I can’t wait, I would post now but do not have enough time. See you next week.

Silence Broken

I did not intend to start the new year off with only one blog post-then go silent for 18 days with nothing. Daily I had great ideas in my mind-not taking time to sit down and record them. So here is an update of how our new year is going.

I have decided to join Tommy in his quest to run/walk over 1,000 miles in 2012. We track our progress here  I have an iphone and he has an ipod with a special tracker in his shoes. After our run/walk it updates to the Nike running site to help us keep track of our goal. Since I am such a visual person and need to see it, I also have a calendar on the fridge where I write down my miles everyday. To complete our goal we need 2.7 miles everyday or 19.2 miles every week. I started my first two weeks off really strong. I am struggling this week and do not have any drive…I am not sure what happened. I am still ahead of my goal by a few miles but have to pick up the pace the next few days.

We are slowly starting to potty train. Annabelle has shown signs of being ready to start but with the holidays we decided to wait. We are in no hurry and are taking things slowly. She is doing great and has used her potty several times. Yippee, Annabelle Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you!

My mom came and spent a weekend with us. While she was here Tommy & I went on a lunch date. One of our resolutions is to have at least one date a month. On our date our meal has to be somewhere we have never eaten before. This month we tried to 17 hundred 90 Inn. The lunch menu had lots of yummy options and was super reasonable.

Annabelle has a growing vocabulary. She is talking more and more every day. Our favorite things that she says is SNOW and LET’S GO! They are so cute. I have been trying to get her to say them on video but have not been successful yet.

We finally got a new bed…a few months after we got married, we bought a bedroom suite. I think it is the same one that every other married couple our age has in their bedroom. I guess we all have similar taste 🙂 We bought our mattress from Sam’s Club because they were very affordable. After many, many months of not getting a good nights sleep, we broke down and bought a new bed. We upgraded from a Queen to a King. The mattress sleeps wonderfully but sometimes I feel a little lost in that big ol bed. We bought just the standard frame for it & my wheels have been turning ever since for a head-board idea. I know exactly what I want, I just have to hunt for it. I can not wait to find it and share it with you.

I am so excited about this weekend. My best friend of a million years and her family are coming to spend the weekend to celebrate Layla’s birthday.

By the way, If you made it all the way to the end of my long/updated post & you have nevered commented, please do & let me know you are here. I have lots of traffic & views but not that many comments. I would love to know who you are 🙂

Have a great weekend!

Looking for Inspiration

I am sitting here watching my hubby do Insanity Cardio Recovery while our little pumpkin is napping -looking for some motivation & inspiration to write a post. I have caught up on all the blogs I follow and I am now thinking about my New Year’s Resolutions. I did really good with my resolutions from last year & I am very happy to report that I am down 28 pounds from last January. When I weighed this morning, looking at the computer at my weight from last year those few holiday pounds I put on did not seem as bad, knowing that I beat my goal of 20 pounds. This year I would still like to lose more & get in shape. Tommy’s goal is to run 1012 miles this year. (that is almost 3 miles a day) I am not sure I am I going to commit to this yet. I might just try to do it for the month of January and see how it goes. Unlike last year I am not to sure what else I want to improve on. (By no means am I saying I am perfect) I am just unsure of the goals I want to set for myself. I know I would like to read more, eat healthier, set aside more special time to spend with the Lord each day, mainly just the usual resolutions. Oh and to keep my closet clean and organized! I do good with Tommy & Annabelle’s but when it comes to mine, I can’t seem to keep it in order.

I have done a good job of keeping up with trying new recipies-#27 on my 30 things list. In the month of December we have tried many new things. It’s been a hard to pick my favorite, but this recipe we all liked & UP (Uncle Pat) came for dinner to help us try them out. Oven Fried Onion Rings. Check my Yummy page if you would like to try them. They are very very yummy! A little time consuming, but well worth it. I have found most of my inspiration form Pinterest. If you still need an invite to Pinterest leave me your email address or send it to me in a email and I will send you and invite.

Annabelle made a craft for her Grandparents for Christmas, an idea I got from Pinterest. They turned out really cute. We even made one for ourselves. (if I did it over I would have made baby Jesus’ skin a little darker)

Today is New Year’s and we are going to eat your traditional southern New Year’s meal. A pork roast, black eyed peas, greens & corn bread. (Our greens will be green beans-we are not fans of collards or turnips)

Here’s to a wonderful New Year for you & your family. Looking forward to spending 2012 with the ones I love most.
